Phonetic: Tie-hem-ee-oh-mice-ees

Tieghemiomyces is in the family Dimargaritaceae, Order Dimargartales. All the fungi in this family are known parasites that can only grow and thrive on living cells of other fungi (biotrophic mycoparasites). Tieghemiomyces in particular is a mycoparasite of the Mucorales. Culture - Potato dextrose agar or Malt extract agar, 20° – 25°C, 7 – 10 days.
