Wardomyces
Phonetic: War-dough-mice-ees
Wardomyces is a fungus classified as dematiaceous, and is the asexual state of Microascus. Wardomyces is commonly found as a saprobe (weak parasite) living on soil, dung, and meats in cold storage. The conidia are the most prevalent feature, being 1- or 2-celled, dark brown, bullet or egg-shaped, flat at the base with a colorless line on one side. Culture - Potato dextrose agar or Malt extract agar, 20° – 25°C, 7 – 10 days.
