Phonetic: Spy-roh-mice-ees

Spiromyces are one of eight genera in the family Kickxellaceae, Order Kickxellales. The majority of the genera are commonly found as saprobes in soil or dung (coprophilous). All of which produce single-spored merosporangia born on specialized septate or aseptate fertile branches named sporocladia. Culture - Potato dextrose agar, 20° – 25°C, 7 – 10 days.
